Board of Directors
Progeny Academy’s Board of Directors is dedicated to the mission of Progeny Academy. In addition to their passion for learning they bring experience and expertise critical to charter school needs including school leadership, teaching and learning, community relations, human resources, school finance, law, and governance.

Mr. Jeramie Steinert, J.D.
Board Chair, Community Member

Mr. Steinart currently serves as vice president/general council of American Heritage National Bank in St. Cloud. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Hamline University, then went on to earn a juris doctorate of law from Washington University in the St. Louis School of Law.

Ms. Nichelle Henderson
Board Secretary, Teacher Member

Ms. Henderson joined the PACS team in 2023 and serves as the Kindergarten teacher. Nichelle went to college in North Dakota (NDSCS) then transferred to a college in Brainerd MN (CLC) and graduated in 2019 with an AA degree. In 2020 she attended North Centeral University and completed my BA degree in Elementary Education. ” I love working with kids and just pushing them to their best abilities to be successful I am also super thankful to be a member of Progeny Board.”

Mr. Thomas Schmidt
Board Treasurer, Teacher Member

Mr. Schmidt joined the PACS staff in the fall of 2024 and currently serves middle school students and is the grade 6 Advisory Teacher. Mr. Schmidt graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Teaching. After working as a Special Education Paraprofessional in several districts in Wisconsin, he began teaching in Richfield, MN before accepting his current position. When school is not in session, Mr. Schmidt works as a Personal Care Assistant in St. Croix County, WI. Mr. Schmidt strives to inspire curiosity in his students, and to equitably advocate for community members of all backgrounds.

Ms. Rose Pollard
Director, Parent Member

Ms. Pollard serves as a teacher of toddlars in the Brooklyn Center Community School District. She also has one child who completed theri PACS school program and one who currently attends Progeny Academy. Prior to serving on the Board, Ms. Pollard worked at PACS as a paraprofessional in the special education department. Ms. Pollard is passionate about children as well as Progeny Academy and is excited to serve as an advocate for all stakeholders.

Ms. Sandra Gordon-mai Johnson, CRNA
Director, Parent Member
Ms. Johnson serves as certified nursing assistant in the Twin Cities. Ms. Johnson has several years of expereince in the United States and internationally in the health care industry. She also has one student currently attending at Progeny Academy. Ms. Johnson joined the PACS school community in 2024 has a passion to serve her community and is excited to be serving and sharing her experiences with the community.
Administration

Ms. Nicole Nelson, Ed.S.
Co-Founder & Director
Ms. Nelson has served as a classroom teacher and administrator for 20 years in Minnesota schools. Ms. Nelson began her career serving students as a social studies teacher and then transitioned to administration in charter schools in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Ms. Nelson earned her bachelor’s degree in social studies education from St. Olaf College and holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction and Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University, St. Paul. She is licensed in social studies education (grades 5-12) and hold’s a K-12 principal’s license. from Concordia University. Ms. Nelson has served as a cadre member for Innovative Quality Schools, an independent educational consultant, school Board Member and professor/supervisor in the department of education at Minnesota State University Mankato.
