The Progeny Academy Board Meetings that were scheduled for May and June will be done virtually only due to COVID-19.

Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with state statute and guidelines from the Minnesota School Board Association, we are transitioning to virtual meetings for the remainder of the school year. This decision is being informed by:
Our respect for the Progeny staff, parents, and community’s desire to be well-informed and prepared when it comes to official events and decision-making;

A recent recommendation from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) discouraging in-person groups larger than ten people;
The School Board Chair as presiding officer determined that an in-person meeting is not prudent because of the current health pandemic and officially declared peacetime state of emergency;

Public attendance at a physical meeting location is not feasible due to the health pandemic and emergency declaration;
A notice provided by the Minnesota School Board Association this morning that School Board meetings held remotely must be posted 3 days in advance.

Therefore, the Progeny Academy School Board is providing notice for a conference call meeting as is required for special meetings under Minnesota Statutes 13D.04. The scheduling of a conference call meeting requires a three-day posting of the meeting including notice that Board members will participate remotely. We have worked with our technology department to make our workshop and board meeting as accessible to the community as possible. As Minnesota Statute 13D.021, Subd. 3., allows for the public to monitor a Board meeting remotely, staff and the public will be invited to view the meeting via this link that will be posted on the School District website. Unfortunately, it will be extremely difficult for public participation via Open Agenda in this format. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate these unprecedented circumstances
